These teapots are called “Nanbu Tekki” in Japanese. Nanbu Tekki is a general term for iron castings that have been made in Morioka City and Oshu City in Iwate Prefecture since the 17th century. Iron casting is a technique in which molten iron is poured into a mold to form a shape. Mainly used to make daily necessities such as tea pots, iron kettles and pots.
